Political Digital and Linear Producer

KTXL-FOX40 is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive producer to join our "Inside California Politics" team in Sacramento, CA. The primary responsibilities include researching and writing political stories for our website, managing our political social media accounts, and line-producing our weekly political program. This opportunity offers the chance to be closely engaged with significant legislative discussions and decisions that affect residents of California.

Our political team serves audiences statewide, with digital content and the broadcast program distributed across Nexstar stations throughout California. Key Responsibilities

• Lead digital political producer, crafting our digital content as it relates to politics.
• Arrange interviews with key stakeholders, legislators, and subject-matter experts
• Create social media posts and interact with viewers across digital platforms.
• Line produces our weekly political program.
• Ensure all reporting meets Nexstar’s high standards of journalistic integrity, fairness, and production quality.

What We're Looking For

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Political Science or related field, or equivalent experience; Minimum of 2 years’ experience in political reporting or producing preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient with cameras, ENPS, Bit-Central, WordPress and other newsroom software products.
• Digital Fluency: Experience producing web content, social media posts, and engaging online audiences.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong communicator with excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Time Management: Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Valid driver’s license

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit, stand, and conduct phone conversations.
• Ability to lift, set up, and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, regardless of weather conditions.
• Repetitive movements (typing, handling equipment) are required, and work may be conducted in varying lighting conditions.

Compensation - $27.00+/hr commensurate with experience and skill level
