Summary
The Controls Engineer is responsible for supporting the maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of process control systems within our production environment. Under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager, this role ensures safe and efficient operation of automated systems while collaborating with the Maintenance Department and other internal teams. This position contributes directly to the operational excellence of Opportunities, Inc., a co-packer and non-profit organization dedicated to training and employing individuals with diverse abilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and program Process Logic Controllers (PLCs) for automated systems.
- Plan and perform preventive maintenance to ensure reliable operations.
- Collaborate with the team to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for automated equipment and maintenance processes.
- Work with internal stakeholders to identify problems, propose solutions, and implement fixes.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal customers as needed.
- Assist with installation, calibration, and repair of automation equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Automation Technology, or related field preferred; a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience required.Basic working knowledge of PLC logic and controls.Experience with Allen Bradley PanelView programming, AB Servo, and AB VFD drives.Understanding of networking and Ethernet protocols.Electrical background is a plus.Experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, repair, and installation of Process Control Systems (SCADA and DCS) or related systems.Dependable with a strong attendance record; able to work designated schedules including days, nights, weekends, and on-call rotations.Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.Job Dimensions & Skills
