The General Counsel will act as the primary legal advisor to the family office, the principal, and affiliated entities. This role requires deep knowledge of real estate law, corporate governance, and investment structures, along with the ability to anticipate and mitigate legal and regulatory risks. The General Counsel will oversee all legal matters, negotiate and draft contracts, manage external counsel relationships, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities :
- Serve as the principal legal advisor to the family office, the principals, and affiliated entities.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including real estate purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, leases, financing documents, and service contracts.
- Advise on corporate governance, entity structuring, and regulatory compliance for real estate investments and other business activities.
- Oversee litigation and manage relationships with outside counsel as needed.
- Monitor and advise on risk management, including insurance, liability, and regulatory exposures.
- Support due diligence and legal aspects of acquisitions, dispositions, and joint ventures.
- Collaborate with internal teams on operational, investment, and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure the office maintains compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and contractual obligations.
Qualifications :
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in [State].10+ years of legal experience, preferably with significant experience in real estate law, investment structures, and corporate governance.Prior experience advising high-net-worth individuals, family offices, or private investment entities is strongly preferred.Strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to work in a confidential, entrepreneurial environment.Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide strategic legal counsel in a fast-paced environment.
