We are searching for a Licensed Substance Use Counselor to join our team of healthcare professionals. The Substance Use Counselor is an individual with hands-on experience and knowledge regarding the nature and treatment of alcoholism and drug addiction. The Substance Use Counselor provides individual, group and family therapy, crisis intervention services, psychoeducation presentations and experiential learning groups for clients and their families. Collaborates with the Treatment Team to formulate the Master Treatment Plan and assists in coordinating discharge planning.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling for clients with substance use disorders, using evidence-based, recovery-oriented approaches.
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and gather diagnostic information from clients, referral sources, and collateral contacts.
- Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals, timely updates, and clear interventions.
- Present clinical information to the multidisciplinary team and participate in treatment plan reviews.
- Document client progress accurately and in accordance with program, licensing, and accreditation standards.
- Support clients in building insight, developing coping skills, addressing problem behaviors, and strengthening group participation.
- Maintain open communication with families, referral sources, and other providers; connect clients and families with appropriate internal and external resources.
- Assist clients in managing external stressors (legal, financial, vocational) that impact recovery.
- Uphold program rules, maintain healthy boundaries, and apply the program’s clinical philosophy consistently.
- Prepare clients for discharge and develop aftercare plans that promote ongoing recovery.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training.

Licensed within the State of New York (LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, LMHC)Master's Degree in social work, psychology or related human services fieldExperience working with substance use disorders
