Position Overview
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine is seeking a Pediatric Cardiologist to join our vibrant and collegial team at Primary Children’s Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada to establish an outpatient clinic program. The position will involve providing care for newborns, infants, and children with congenital and acquired heart diseases, initially in outpatient settings and later in inpatient settings once the Primary Children’s Hospital Las Vegas is completed. Responsibilities include general cardiology clinics and possibly subspecialty clinics based on the incumbent’s training, with a preference for those able to perform fetal echocardiograms. Overnight call responsibilities are expected and divided among Las Vegas division faculty. Inpatient responsibilities will occur within Primary Children’s Hospital – Las Vegas upon completion of the hospital. Demonstrated leadership and excellent communication skills are required. Consulting responsibilities on additional units, including the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, will be required. Academic productivity in quality improvement, research, teaching, and advocacy is expected and supported by the Division.
Research Opportunities
The Division has a very active research program with a strong support infrastructure and supporting team. It has been a core site of the Pediatric Heart Network of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) since its inception and participates in the NPC‑QIC and all the major registries including PC4, PAC3, IMPACT, ACTION, FON, and others. In addition, the Division is a core site for the Scientific Focus Research Network of the American Heart Association (AHA). Numerous opportunities for collaborative research exist within the Division as well as throughout the Department, Medical School, and University of Utah.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must be Board Eligible / Board Certified in Pediatric Cardiology and have expertise in General Pediatric Cardiology. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure Track at a rank commensurate with experience and qualifications.
