Tectonic is actively seeking experienced, full-time Resident Engineers to join our growing Water Resources Group for upcoming NYCDEP water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the NYC metro area.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervises construction activities from Notice to Proceed (NTP) through project close-out, ensuring timely completion and adherence to contract documents, specifications, and accepted engineering practices on public infrastructure projects
 - Oversees field construction within project limits to confirm compliance with contract requirements and applicable codes
 - Manages and provides leadership to field inspection staff on infrastructure construction projects
 - Coordinates and directs all phases of construction inspection independently on water and wastewater infrastructure projects
 - Reviews and adjusts daily contractor work schedules in response to site conditions or project changes, ensuring optimal productivity and alignment with project milestones
 - Prepares, reviews, and certifies contractor pay applications, including verification of quantities and development of supporting documentation in accordance with project controls
 - Document contractor performance and enforces company and client policies, including recognition of exceptional work and documentation of any disciplinary issues
 - Monitors contractor safety programs for compliance with site-specific and regulatory safety standards, and takes necessary action to correct unsafe practices
 - Issues change orders, field orders, and memos to modify contract items as needed based on site conditions or as-built quantity calculations, in coordination with the project team
 - Collaborate frequently with Project Managers, client representatives, and city officials to communicate scope changes, track quantity adjustments, and manage impacts to the construction schedule
 - All related duties as required to ensure the successful completion of assigned infrastructure projects
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Professional Engineering License in the State of New York, with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similarA minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction management, including heavy civil and infrastructure projects, with demonstrated experience in estimating, bidding, scheduling, and field engineeringExperience as Resident Engineer managing heavy infrastructure projects and familiarity with NYCDEP procedures, processes, and project delivery standards preferredProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Bluebeam, estimating and scheduling software, and web-based document collaboration tools requiredAbility to understand and interpret written specifications, plans, and construction documents for work orders and build documentsAbility to effectively and tactfully communicate with clients, supervisors, and inspectors regarding specifications and qualification test resultsA valid, clean driver's license and personal vehicle to travel to job sites is preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Pay Range : $176,000 - $220,000 per year
