Job descriptionDirect facility maintenance programs, including preventive maintenance, capital repairs, and lifecycle management. Standardize repair protocols, vendor management, and maintenance scheduling across multiple sites. Assist in developing long-term plans for asset replacement. Ensure compliance with FAA, OSHA, EPA, ADA, and other regulatory requirements. Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. Provide operational support to facility and station leaders to ensure consistency and service excellence. Serve as a company liaison with vendors, airport authorities, and other stakeholders on construction and facilities-related matters. Supervise and develop team members, promoting accountability and continuous improvement. Assume additional responsibilities to support Modern Aviation's evolving business objectives. Focused, organized, and results-driven with discipline to drive a diverse group of cross-functional partners toward defined change-management goals. Highly innovative and excited by leading transformation, including defining business processes and incubating innovative ideas. Experienced in presenting to C-Level and other senior business leaders. Able to work in a fast-paced environment and comfortable driving decisions through ambiguity. Energized by the opportunities to identify, build and / or revamp processes and ways of working across multiple teams and functions. Exceptional communicator in both written and verbal interactions; clear, concise, and able to effectively distill the "so what" for different audiences. Naturally curious about people and loves learning from diverse backgrounds, working styles, and perspectives, and adapting own approach to be successful. Amenable to working in situations with ambiguity and change, balancing the need to be nimble and responsive in the short-term with driving longer-term progress. A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Aviation Management or related field. 7–10 years in construction and facilities, preferably in aviation or a related field. A valid driver's license and clear driving record. Strong background in preventive maintenance programs, project management, vendor / contractor oversight, and equipment lifecycle planning. Experience leading teams and implementing consistent practices across multiple sites. Skilled in budget management and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Operational leadership in executing projects and programs with a strong focus on detail and safety. Understanding of how to be a collaborative partner who builds effective relationships with local leaders, vendors, and stakeholders. Results-driven approach focusing on delivering projects and programs that meet operational and financial goals. Integrity and accountability, maintaining the highest standards of compliance, safety, and professionalism. Constantly operates a computer and periodically moves around the office to access office machinery (e.g., copy machine). Occasionally ascends / descends a ladder for various aspects of the role. Periodically stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls to position self. Ability to communicate information and ideas so others understand. Director, Facilities and Construction
As the successful candidate, you will provide hands-on leadership and management of facility, construction, and equipment programs across the FBO network, ensuring that capital projects and facility maintenance programs are executed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with business goals and customer expectations. You will partner closely with local leaders, vendors, and senior leadership to deliver projects that enhance safety, efficiency, and the customer experience while maintaining consistent standards across all of Modern's locations.
Construction & Capital Projects
- Manage evaluation, planning, and execution of construction projects, including hangar builds, FBO terminal renovations, ramp repairs, and other infrastructure upgrades.
- Liaise with third-party advisors engaged to assist with construction and capital projects.
- Oversee facility repairs and improvements, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and compliant with regulatory standards.
- Partner with local leaders and vendors to scope, bid, and manage contractors for facility and infrastructure projects.
- Support capital budgeting processes, providing input on cost estimates and ROI.
