The systems engineer role is focused on supporting unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft platforms, as well as unmanned ground vehicles. The successful candidate will be involved in all phases of projects from definition, design, to testing, and must be able to develop requirements, create system design documentation, utilize and maintain analytical models, as well as develop new models. The position requires 'cradle to grave' experience, meaning the individual will be engaged in the complete project lifecycle.

Job Description

The systems engineer role is focused on supporting unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft platforms, as well as unmanned ground vehicles. The successful candidate will be involved in all phases of projects from definition, design, to testing, and must be able to develop requirements, create system design documentation, utilize and maintain analytical models, as well as develop new models. The position requires 'cradle to grave' experience, meaning the individual will be engaged in the complete project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer and stakeholder requirements, decompose requirements, derive requirements, and allocate them to system and subsystem elements.
• Develop system architecture for new and existing systems.
• Conduct trade studies and perform design research to determine optimal requirements and system architecture.
• Develop test plans, reports, and test cases based on requirements documentation.
• Develop system / subsystem interface definitions, system schematics, and system design documentation.
• Lead and conduct testing as applicable.
• Work in adherence to structured and defined development processes.
• Collaborate with the Software Engineering Team to develop software system requirements and test requirements.
• Participate in planning, design, testing, and deployment of engineered systems and software to ensure conformance with functional specifications.

Work Environment

The position requires working at one of the following locations : Round Rock, Arlington, OKC, Sacramento, or Thachapi, CA. For those working in Dallas, strong software and hardware test experience is preferred to support embedded development teams. In Sacramento, there is a SCIF facility as well as a traditional facility. The role involves travel approximately 25% of the time, especially if based in Austin or Arlington, with potential travel to California, Oklahoma, North Dakota, and potentially Alabama. The work environment includes exposure to schematics and cameo, with operational test execution, and requires interaction with traditional systems at any of the sites.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $95.00 / hr.
