Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Emergency Department position in a Level II Trauma Center, requiring at least two years of critical care experience and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in a high-acuity, 71-bed Emergency Department functioning at Level I standards within a hospital settingPatient population includes multi-system trauma, STEMI, stroke, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB / GYN, pediatrics, and psychiatric casesPatient ratios are 1 : 4 for ER, 1 : 5 for med-surg holds, and 1 : 3 for ICU holdsUses Cerner EMR system; experience with Cerner or Epic requiredEquipment includes Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors12-hour night shifts with start time at 7 : 00pm, with every other weekend or four weekend days per month requiredNo floating requiredNo on-call responsibilitiesCollaborate with support staff including CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomists (until 3am), IV / VAT team, hospitalists, and a unit receptionistOrientation includes 24 hours of classroom and 24 hours of unit training for new or returning travelers absent over one yearScrubs must be any solid colorHoliday coverage includes one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy, with blackout dates subject to change yearlyUp to seven days off may be approved in advance, excluding blackout periodsSecure garage parking is availableRequirements
Active AL or compact RN license requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, Secure / CPI (nationally recognized / JACHO accepted), and NIHSS certifications requiredMinimum two years of critical care (ICU or ER) experience, with at least one year in a Level II or higher trauma ERFirst-time travelers considered with two years' experience and Cerner or Epic EMR experienceProficiency required in trach care, vent care, ICU drip setup and maintenance, chest tubes, art lines, central lines, PICC lines, midlines, ports, Foley, splint / ortho device application, BiPAP / HiFlow, and continuous bladder irrigationMust not reside within a 60-mile radius of the facilityPerm staff must wait six months after employment ends to be eligible as a travelerBenefits
