Compensation : $85,000 - $145,000 per year (commensurate with experience, education, and licensure)
Position Summary :
We are seeking an experienced and licensed Land Surveyor / Project Manager to lead both field and office teams delivering boundary, topographic, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), and transportation surveys for state and municipal roadway projects. This leadership role involves managing multiple crews, ensuring QA / QC compliance, maintaining strong client relationships, and supporting business development within the surveying discipline.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead and supervise two or more field crews and associated office staff.
Assemble field data, perform survey calculations, and prepare plats, legal descriptions, and technical deliverables.
Ensure strict adherence to QA / QC standards, schedule milestones, and budget constraints.
Serve as the primary client point of contact and represent the organization at project and industry meetings.
Provide mentorship and leadership to survey staff through coaching, performance evaluations, and goal setting.
Support pursuit strategies and proposal preparation for new surveying and transportation projects.
Coordinate with other technical departments to ensure alignment on project objectives and deliverables.
Required Qualifications :
Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in at least one U.S. state or the ability to obtain licensure within six months of hire (exam and reciprocity support provided).
Minimum 8 years of progressive surveying experience , including work on DOT, roadway, or transportation-related projects.
Proficiency in MicroStation / OpenRoads or AutoCAD Civil 3D .
Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local surveying regulations .
Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a seven-year background check.
Authorized to work in the United States (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or TN visa eligible).
Four-year accredited degree with coursework in math, science, and surveying (foreign degrees must be evaluated for board approval).
Preferred Qualifications :
Multistate surveying licensure.
Experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) .
Familiarity with aerial mapping, LiDAR scanning, or sUAS (drone) operations .
