Vice President of Origination & Energy Markets Looking for a Head of Power Origination to lead and manage a team of professionals responsible for originating, pricing and structuring, negotiating and executing long term power offtake agreements for a leading developer with a strong near-term pipeline and robust company growth strategy. This will require someone with advanced knowledge of revenue optimization, market-fundamentals and dynamics, regulatory overlay, as well as competitive bidding and pricing analysis.
Responsibilities include evaluating market demand drivers, strategic and tactical business opportunities and relationships and overall finance-ability of counterparties and offtake structures and an ability to structure, analyze, and execute complex PPA terms. This role will require an understanding of the technical side of solar + storage and standalone battery revenue modeling and settlement terms, by directing internal and external technical and quantitative resources to meet customer and corporate needs.
Key Responsibilities Lead business development efforts to originate new off-take opportunities across a 14 GW portfolio of solar + storage and standalone storage assets.
Establish and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, trading houses, and corporate offtake partners, and other potential offtake partners.
Drive the negotiation and execution of long term PPAs and other revenue agreements such as capacity contracts, tolling agreements, REC agreements, hedging arrangements, VPPAs, and traditional utility PPAs, overseeing all aspects of the transaction lifecycle—due diligence, negotiation, and post-close management.
Respond to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and coordinate internal resources to deliver competitive, compelling bids that meet internal investment targets.
Collaborate with the finance team to develop commercially viable revenue cash flows for financial models and conduct analyses that support deal structuring and decision-making.
Manage and leverage technical and quantitative resources to inform decision making and transaction analysis.
Ideal Candidate Profile Technically-minded and deep knowledge of market mechanisms, market drivers, and contract terms
Strong understanding of the technical side of revenue modeling
Proven experience negotiating and executing complex PPAs
Expertise in revenue optimization and technical modeling, especially involving hybrid and storage technology
Confident navigating complex transactions and communicating value propositions to both internal and external stakeholders.
Relationships with customers in various market segments including utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, trading houses, and corporate offtake clients
Experience & Education Bachelor's Degree in finance, economics, renewable energy, engineering or similar disciplines, and MBA preferred.
10+ years of experience and strong record of accomplishment in utility scale power origination and business development roles
