Lakeland University, an independent, not-for-profit, liberal arts institution, seeks a diverse pool of qualified candidates for the position of Campus Safety Officer to join our in-house campus safety team on a part-time basis. We are looking for people who are willing to support the mission of the Department of Campus Safety by providing our students, staff, and faculty with a safe and secure environment in which to learn, grow and enjoy the Lakeland University community experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Use exceptional customer service skills in all interactions with students, staff, faculty and visitors of the college;Attend professional development and training programs as required;Accountable for reporting all CLERY reportable incidents;Knowledge of report writing in computer software applications;Provide directions to campus visitors;Monitor campus safety alarm systems, security / surveillance cameras;The ability to work with the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Department, the local volunteer fire department and other emergency services;Patrol campus buildings, grounds, and parking lots on foot, or by vehicle to identify unauthorized use of buildings, equipment or facilities and / or criminal activity, atypical activities or other irregularities. Take appropriate action to correct on-campus situations that could reasonably be considered detrimental or harmful to persons or property;Investigate complaints of disturbance, accidents, infractions and criminal activity occurring on campus and undertake appropriate action or responseRespond to requests for first aid and support. Assess the situation and provide limited first aid support as authorized. Request support services such as ambulance, paramedics, fire, etc. Provide lifesaving care using an Automated Electronic Defibrillator.Assist in providing emergency notifications to staff, faculty and students. Assist county, state or federal law enforcement personnel to extent possible within the limits of Campus Safety Officers' authority and the law.SPECIALIZE KNOW-HOW & SKILLS
Two years full-time college education in police science or closely related field; -or- two years full-time experience in police, security, military or campus security;Requires the ability to pass firearm certification on an annual basis;Requires the ability to pass the Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR / AED / First Aid;Demonstrate ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality;Ability to use diplomacy and tact when dealing with sensitive situations;Ability to effectively manage time and priorities;Demonstrated ability to tactfully and effectively communicate (written and verbal) with a variety of individuals;Strong critical thinking skills;Demonstrates organizational ability, and attention to detail and accuracy;Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;The knowledge of on and off campus services (counseling, SANE exams, Safe Harbor, Crisis Center);Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as needed;Willing to take on additional projects or tasks as the need arises;Ability to multitask effectively;PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Minimum two years full-time college education in police science or closely related field; -OR- two years full-time experience in law enforcement, armed security, military or campus security.No previous felony convictionsCONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
