Support Services Officer

Under the direction of the Support Services Commander, the Support Services Officer coordinates and performs prisoner control / transport duties, court security duties, property room and evidence processing, chain of custody duties, department inventory control and coordinate vehicle maintenance, department security cameras / door monitoring, animal control liaison, and parking / environmental enforcement. The Support Services Officer also serves arrest warrants and arrests judicially remanded defendants. Position is a specially commissioned peace officer.

A high level of independent judgment, collaboration, and strong attention to detail is required to prioritize, organize, and complete workload in a timely manner with minimal supervision. Responsibilities have a significant impact on the organization's operations and record-keeping.

This is a non-exempt position, eligible for overtime and benefits. This position is covered by the Police Guild Collective Bargaining Agreement. Effective Jan. 1, 2026, wage schedule will be as follows : $5,983 min - $7,274 max per month.

Typical work schedule is day shift, Monday - Friday, with option of working a 5 / 8 or 4 / 10 schedule. Position is not eligible for remote work.

Essential Functions

I. Prisoner Transport & Court Security :

• Book police arrested prisoners into detention facilities and transport prisoners to jails to and from court facilities in a safe, efficient and expeditious manner; includes using handcuffs, waist restraints, ankle restraints and other defensive sprays and equipment when warranted.
• Monitor prisoner safety and health while in holding cells or in physical custody and provides court room security while prisoners are present for hearings.
• Serves warrants of arrest and arrests judicially remanded defendants.

The position works in a standard office environment working at a computer and outdoors; job duties performed outdoors are subject to a variety of terrains, under a variety of weather conditions, including sun, rain, wind, mud, and snow. Conditions may include working in right-of-way, traffic, or roadways, exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials and physical or verbal abuse from hostile citizens.

To perform the essential function of the job, incumbents must be able to walk, stand, reach, talk, hear and operate a motorized vehicle; moderate or light lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and / or up to 20 pounds frequently.

Occasional evening, night and weekend work may be required.
