Overview

Regional Coordinator, Title I - Los Angeles Unified School District. Advises the regional team and community of schools in supporting the academic needs of at-risk students enrolled in Title I schools. Collaborates with the District team, school personnel, parents, and the community to lead in the development, planning, and implementation of data-driven, results-based support services and programs for at-risk students.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities

  • Develops systems of support and provides ongoing technical guidance to school staff related to the School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) development, modification, and evaluation, including budgets
  • Advises schools in evaluating the implementation of Title I program compliance as monitored through the Federal Program Monitoring (FPM) process
  • Leads technical assistance to Title I schools and schools designated for improvement which includes the monitoring and submission of all mandates related to Title I and Title I school improvement activities
  • Collaborates with school and regional staff to identify resource inequities and evidence-based interventions such that school plans effectively address the needs of students identified during the comprehensive needs assessment
  • Collaborates with regional office and central office personnel to support schools in aligning their strategies and / or leveraging resources to improve their instructional program
  • Interprets federal and state regulations relative to implementation within the context of District policies and practices
  • Gathers, analyzes, and interprets student data for schools related to the development of their SPSA
  • Develops technical support systems for comprehensive program planning in meeting state and federal requirements
  • Assists regions with monitoring school-site categorical budgets, use of equipment, and procedures related to time reporting
  • Coordinates with other regional instructional staff to prioritize site support and prepare directors for effective school monitoring visits
  • Supports regional directors in monitoring implementation of the SPSA by preparing reports for directors in advance of their school visits, performing site visits with the purpose of monitoring school plan implementation, and reporting trends to Federal and State Education Programs
  • Provides on-going training to school-based Title I designees
  • Approves Title I school purchases in the School Front End System
  • Performs other Title I-related duties as assigned

Salary

Salary : 41G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($141,102 – $176,010) – 261 paid days

  • In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized "settlement" (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).
  • For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.
  • Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.
  • This position is deemed certificated under Education Code Section 44065, but may not qualify for "creditable service" under Education Code Section 22119.5 for CalSTRS benefits. However, if the candidate chosen for the position is already a CalSTRS member, he / she can fill out an election form to remain in CalSTRS and thereby obtain CalSTRS credit for this service.
  • Minimum Requirements

  • At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a leadership position(s) (e.g. coordinator, instructional coach, dean)
  • At least three (3) years of successful, full-time public school experience as an elementary / secondary teacher
  • A valid California Administrative Services Credential (Out-of-state applicants must qualify for and obtain a California credential prior to selection approval.)
  • An earned master's degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university
  • Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework
  • Applicants have one year to complete this requirement.

    Employees who have been issued a below standard Performance Evaluation, or Notice of Unsatisfactory Act(s) and / or Suspension shall be ineligible for application to any promotion process for one calendar year following the issuance of such a Notice.

    Desirable Experience / Qualifications

  • Expertise in evidence-based and standards-based Title I instructional practices
  • Knowledge of evidence-based educational methodologies that support systemic change
  • Knowledge of educational reform and effective evidence-based instructional strategies
  • Knowledge and understanding of the instructional needs of at-risk students including educationally disadvantaged students
  • Knowledge and understanding of state identification criteria and subsequent requirements
  • Knowledge of District initiatives such as California content standards, Teaching and Learning Framework, and the District's English Learner Master Plan
  • Understanding of the instructional needs of socioeconomically disadvantaged students, English learners, Standard English learners, students with disabilities, students identified as gifted, and students of various languages and cultures
  • Experience with Federal Program Monitoring (FPM) reviews and the understanding of state and federal laws and District policies and procedures as they relate to FPM
  • Experience with data analysis and the development of the School Plan for Student Achievement
  • Experience as a school-site coordinator or administrator working with Title I and / or schools identified for improvement
  • Experience with effective implementation of intervention programs
  • Desirable Experience / Qualifications (continued)

  • Experience with budget development and monitoring of categorical budgets using School Front End and Budget Availability
  • Experience with computer and basic software programs and District applications
  • Ability to work effectively with all racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, linguistic, and disability groups
  • Ability to interpret and use data for the purpose of improving student achievement and informing instruction
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
