Position Overview :
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities within the company, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and enhancing operational efficiency. This position requires a strong technical understanding of ASC 842 (Lease Accounting), as well as the ability to lead and mentor a small team. The ideal candidate will possess a mix of strategic vision and tactical expertise, with a focus on process improvement, financial accuracy, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities :
Financial Reporting & Compliance : Oversee the preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements. Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
ASC 842 Expertise : Lead the implementation and management of lease accounting under ASC 842. Ensure compliance with the new lease standard across all real estate and equipment leases.
Team Leadership & Development : Manage and mentor a small finance team, providing guidance, training, and support. Promote continuous learning and process improvements within the team.
Process Improvement : Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and implement solutions that improve accuracy, efficiency, and overall operational effectiveness.
Budgeting & Forecasting : Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, providing clear financial analysis and insights to leadership for decision-making.
Internal Controls : Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
Audit Coordination : Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, ensuring smooth audits and accurate documentation.
Cross-Department Collaboration : Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights, guidance on capital expenditures, and help drive strategic business decisions.
Qualifications :
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
Experience :
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting / finance roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership position.
Strong working knowledge of ASC 842 and lease accounting.
Experience in the medicinal or healthcare industry preferred, but not required.
Technical Skills :
Advanced proficiency in accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and Excel.
Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
Leadership & Communication :
Proven ability to lead and develop a small team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present financial data and insights to non-financial stakeholders.
Analytical & Detail-Oriented : Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Process-Oriented : A proactive mindset for identifying inefficiencies and implementing process improvements.
