Coordinator, Administrative Program
The Lowell Bennion Community Engagement Center at the University of Utah is a recognized leader in public service and community engagement. Its mission is to promote student success and well-being through transformative experiences that support both student development and community needs. In 2020, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning designated the University of Utah as a Community Engaged Institution. Community engagement is a strategic priority at the University of Utah, offering students meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities. The Bennion Center provides valuable professional experience for individuals pursuing careers in higher education, nonprofit management, volunteer coordination, fundraising, student services, social services, program development, and community organizing. One of the Center's signature initiatives is the Alternative Breaks program, which facilitates ethical community engagement and experiential learning during academic breaks. Student teams, guided by staff and faculty partners, collaborate with host communities to support nonprofit organizations and community-driven projects. By combining the strengths of students and local communities, Alternative Breaks cultivates lifelong civic engagement through education, dialogue, reflection, and action.
The Bennion Center is seeking a dynamic and organized part-time Program Coordinator to support its community engagement and assessment initiatives. This role plays a key part in advancing the Center's mission by managing elements of the Alternative Breaks program by overseeing student leadership development, recruitment efforts, and program logistics. The Program Coordinator will also contribute to the overall impact of the Bennion Center's civic education efforts and requires strong communication and organizational skills, a commitment to community engagement, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and faculty.
