DESCRIPTION :

Greets patients and leads to exam rooms to take vital signs in preparation for the provider visit. Performs basic procedures on the patient according to his / her training from a medical assistant program.

Performs other duties as needed.

Schedule : Monday - Friday, 5 days per week, 8 Hour shifts

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES :

  • Takes patient vital signs including height, weight, head circumference (0 to 2 yrs), blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respirations.
  • Upon the authorization and under the supervision of an RN / NP / MD and within the capacity of certificate and training, be able to perform basic patient testing such as assisting with pap smears, throat cultures, doing EKGs, TB skin testing, immunizations, hearing tests, basic visual acuity, urine tests, and phlebotomy.
  • Sets out instruments and supplies in anticipation of provider needs and assists provider with performing exams as necessary.
  • Interprets Spanish and English during examination to facilitate history taking, counseling, medical examination, and education.
  • Maintains clean, organized, and fully stocked exam rooms. Maintains clean, organized, and fully stocked lab, and cleans daily.
  • Processes imaging and lab results daily. Maintains all log books up to date, e.g., refrigerator and freezer temperature logs, oxygen log, etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity, work effectively and with individuals of different cultures and socioeconomic status; Passion for service.
  • It is the expectation of SACHS that all staff members exhibit critical thinking and problem solving skills which means going above and beyond your job description to find a solution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Education : High school diploma or equivalent and medical assisting diploma required.
  • Licensure / Certification : Current CPR required and veni-puncture certificate preferred. Valid California driver's license required.
  • Experience : Minimum of one year of medical front or back office experience preferred. Fluent in both English and Spanish preferred.

As a requirement of this position you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into.

  • Essential Technical / Motor Skills : Ability to take vital signs including measuring, weighing, taking pulse / respirations and blood pressure with appropriate cuff.
  • Interpersonal Skills : Strong interpersonal relations skills. Ability to maintain a professional attitude in difficult situations and communicate effectively.

Understands needs of clinic and works well in a team environment. Must display integrity and dependability. Ability to relate and work with people from all backgrounds and levels and adapt to various work environments.

Other : Must maintain a professional appearance along with friendly, cooperative, caring and calm behavior. Must be committed to serve low-income clients.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
