PCU RN Job Details

Location : Hermitage, Tennessee (zip 37076) – Nashville area healthcare jobs

Unit : Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Assignment Length : 13-week travel nursing contract

Shift : 7 : 00 AM – 7 : 00 PM (12-hour day shifts)

Hours per Week : 36

Scheduling : Self-scheduling; every other weekend required

Start Date : November 17, 2025

End Date : February 16, 2026

Dress Code : Black scrubs

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $1440 - $1550

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Tennessee or compact state

BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications

Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or acute care nursing experience

Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills

EKG rhythm interpretation experience

Proficiency with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips

Peripheral IV insertion and management skills

Preferred : Peritoneal dialysis experience

Experience with bipaps, high flow oxygen, and multiple oxygen delivery systems

Stroke care and post cardiac catheterization experience

Tube feeding and NG / Dobhoff tube management

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality patient care in the Progressive Care Unit

Monitor and interpret EKG rhythms for cardiac patients

Administer cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips safely

Assist with procedures : peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, NG / Dobhoff tube insertions, central line dressing changes

Troubleshoot wound vacs in collaboration with wound care specialists

Document patient care using Meditech electronic health record system

Participate in hourly rounding (days) and every 2-hour rounding (nights)

Communicate effectively with patients and families using AIDET and communication boards

Float between PCU units or to medical-surgical floors as needed

Work collaboratively with unit secretaries and patient care technicians
