The Automation \ Controls Engineer will join a growing team of IT, Engineering and Health & Safety professionals helping our customers reduce their work-related risk to quality, productivity and employee health.

The Automation \ Controls Engineer will be working on projects in automotive manufacturing facilities to help implement EV Battery Manufacturing Systems. While this position will be based out of Metropolitan Detroit, there will be travel to automotive manufacturing facilities throughout Metro Detroit, and other facilities in the US and China.

Responsibilities will Include

• Design and Development :  Analyze system requirements, develop mathematical models, and create control algorithms for automated machinery and equipment.
• Implementation and Programming :  Program and configure PLCs, SCADA systems, HMIs, and DCS to optimize performance and integrate new technologies.
• Testing and Optimization :  Conduct testing, simulations, and validation to ensure system functionality, reliability, and efficiency, with continuous performance monitoring and improvement.
• Maintenance and Troubleshooting :  Maintain and upgrade existing control systems; diagnose and resolve issues, plan preventative maintenance, and enhance system longevity.
• Collaboration and Documentation :  Work closely with design, production, electrical, and software teams to define requirements and integrate control systems into larger processes. Maintain documentation for system designs, configurations, and modifications.
• Safety and Compliance :  Ensure all control systems meet regulatory standards and safety requirements.
• Training and Support :  Provide technical support and training to engineering staff and users on the operation and maintenance of control systems.
