Head of Construction

Science is looking for an in-house Head of Construction who can operate as a general contractor. This person will lead our ongoing construction projects and ensure that our facilities support research and development as our work grows and changes. To be a successful construction manager you will work to bridge the gap between the many facets needed to construct, maintain, and adapt a life sciences building in addition to closely managing and optimizing the work of subcontractors.

Role responsibilities :

• Carry out a review of work progress on a regular basis and ensure jobs are done on time and within budget
• Manage, coordinate, and direct the activities of subcontractors and construction workers
• Work with architects and engineers to complete and submit drawings for permits
• Oversee and handle the negotiation of terms of agreements, drafting of contracts, and the acquisition of permits and licenses
• Analyze, manage, and mitigate risks
• Make sure that construction standards are of high quality and also ensure the use of proper construction techniques
• Project manage within critical timelines

Key qualifications :

Salary / Pay Range :

Science is required under California law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on the indicated salary band. The base salary range for this full‑time position is $160,000 - $220,000 annually + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers.
