American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a mixed ICU position requiring advanced certifications and prior travel experience.
Responsibilities
Position is in a mixed ICU (MICU, SICU, CICU, TICU) in a hospital settingPatient population includes medical, surgical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases, including ARDS, MI, CVA / TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system traumaRN to patient ratios are 1 : 1, 1 : 2, and rarely 1 : 3 depending on acuityEpic charting experience is required for ICU and EDShift schedule is 12-hour nights with every other weekend rotationFloating is uncommon but may occur to adult floors, including MedSurg / Tele with a 1 : 4 ratioOrientation consists of one 12-hour and one 8-hour shift in unitResponsibilities include managing complex, high-acuity ICU patients across a wide spectrum of critical diagnosesTeam includes 1-2 nurse aides per unit, mobility float aide, two charge nurses overseeing all ICUs, 24 / 7 respiratory therapy, dedicated intensivists, and advanced practice providersICU RNs may float to ED; PCU RNs may float to ICU based on qualificationsHospital orientation and unit-specific onboarding are providedNavy scrubs are requiredNo call requiredNo time off is permitted during holidays or the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August annually)A maximum of 7 days off may be approved if the contract is extended to fulfill a full 13 weeksFirst-time travelers will not be consideredFormer permanent staff must wait at least one year before returning as travelersFree parking is available on siteRequirements
Active RN license with South Dakota Board of Nursing or compact eligibilityCurrent certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (must be obtained before start if not current)Minimum 2 years of ICU experience (excluding travel experience) preferred; consideration for 1.5 years with significant RN experience outside ICUCardiac ICU experience, especially with CABG / TAVR post-op patients, is preferred but not requiredPrior completion of at least one travel assignment is requiredMust have experience with Epic EMRExperience with advanced ICU equipment such as Vasopressors, sedation, paralytics, hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, telemetry, and preferably Impella, IABP, and CRRTMust live at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facilityBenefits
