Seamstress
Part / time flexible hours - 20-25 hours per week)
Job Summary
Alters, repairs, or fits garments.
General Accountabilities
- Fits garments on customers to determine required alterations.
- Sews garments, using needles and thread or sewing machines.
- Measures parts, such as sleeves or pant legs, and marks or pin-folds alteration lines.
- Takes up or lets down hems to shorten or lengthen garment parts.
- Lets out or takes in seams in suits and other garments to improve fit.
- Removes stitches from garments to be altered, using rippers or razor blades.
- Fits, alters, repairs, and makes made-to-measure clothing, according to customers' specifications and fit.
- Makes garment style changes, such as tapering pant legs.
- Repairs or replaces defective garment parts, such as pockets, zippers, snaps, buttons, and linings.
- Estimate time frame of alteration
- Sewing on nametapes, patches, badge tabs, name tabs and other style patchwork.
- Communicates with customers
- The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time
Job related requirements
- Must work on site
- Must be able to sit for 2 hours at a time
- Must be able to read and comprehend written / verbal orders
- Must be able to communicate efficiently in English
- Must be capable of only taking one meal period per day
- Must be able to work between the hours of 9am-5pm Monday-Friday
