As Odyssey enters its next era, we are searching for a Senior Special Events Manager who can reimagine the standard of event execution and lead our team in delivering events that exceed expectations at every level.
Position Summary
The Senior Special Events Manager is the strategic and operational leader responsible for all aspects of event sales execution, planning, and onsite delivery. This is a high-visibility, impact-driven role that requires a seasoned professional with deep experience producing large-scale events in high-end hotels, upscale venues, or major event facilities .
This leader will take Odyssey's event operations to the next level - reinventing systems, elevating guest experience, optimizing logistics, and building a culture of flawless execution. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, loves problem solving, and is obsessed with operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Event Leadership & Execution
Oversee planning, coordination, and onsite management for all weddings, corporate events, banquets, galas, and large-scale experiences.
Reinvent and elevate Odyssey's event execution standards by implementing new systems, timelines, communication tools, and guest-experience touchpoints.
Lead all pre-event briefings, BEO reviews, and collaboration meetings with culinary, beverage, FOH / BOH operations, and AV / production partners.
Ensure all events are executed to brand standards with precision, professionalism, and innovation.
Client Experience & Relationship Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for high-value clients from contract through event day.
Deliver exceptional service with personalized attention, proactive communication, and creative problem solving.
Build ongoing relationships with corporate clients, planners, wedding vendors, and community partners to drive repeat and referral business.
Team Development & Collaboration
Train, coach, and mentor the Event Sales and Event Operations teams, ensuring alignment with Odyssey's elevated expectations.
Partner closely with the General Manager, Beverage Manager, and Executive Chef to create cohesive, seamless event experiences.
Oversee event staffing models, scheduling, and service team coordination to ensure consistent excellence.
Revenue & Business Performance
Support event forecasting, reporting, and monthly performance reviews.
Identify opportunities to enhance profitability through creative upsells, improved workflows, and service efficiencies.
Stay current on market trends to ensure Odyssey is competitive, relevant, and a leader in event innovation.
Operational Excellence & Reinvention
Audit existing systems and processes; build new workflows that improve communication, precision, and speed.
Introduce elevated service standards for both social and corporate clients.
Implement post-event debriefs and continuous feedback loops to constantly refine execution.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience planning and executing large-scale events in luxury hotels, high-end venues, or major event facilities.
Proven success leading teams and executing complex, multi-departmental events.
Strong understanding of BEOs, timelines, vendor management, and high-touch client communication.
Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
