Job Summary
The Early College Program at GCC includes two key initiatives : Achieving a College Education (ACE) , which supports first-generation and financially disadvantaged students in preparing for college success, and Hoop of Learning (HOL) , a bridge program designed for Native American high school students. Both programs enable students to earn college credits while still in high school.
The Student Services Supervisor oversees the Early College Program by delivering direct student services, resolving issues, providing technical assistance, and supporting the Early College team. This role also plays a key part in advancing the college's strategic enrollment goals by acting as a community liaison-conducting outreach to high schools, community agencies, and organizations to promote and support student participation in Early College opportunities at GCC.
Key responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating community partnership programs such as ACE Plus and Hoop of Learning; building and maintaining collaborations with K-12 schools, professional associations, and community-based organizations; facilitating faculty learning activities with community partners; advising prospective and current students; managing program budgets and expenditures; supervising team members; seeking and applying for alternate funding sources such as grants; and participating in evaluation, reporting, and service on college and community advisory boards.
Essential Functions
30% - Directs, develops, plans, budgets and evaluates college-wide early outreach programing, recruitment, and community partnership programs designed to facilitate enrollment and student success
20% - Advises prospective and current cohort students
15% - Administers and enforces policies and processes pertaining to enrollment, state statute requirements, and early outreach grant awards. Monitors the compliance and reporting standards of district, state, and federal regulations; represents student affairs division at activities, events, workshops and conferences
15% - Supervise and lead work of team members
10% - Directs, develops, plans, organizes, and implements marketing and recruitment strategies, which support a research -based foundation for early college retention and persistence efforts. Prepares and monitors budget and oversees budget expenditures
10% - Integrates MCCCD students' success initiatives into outreach programming efforts, which improve student persistence, retention and completion
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, sociology, business administration or directly related field and four years of student services or related experience. (Reference Position Specific Responsibilities above to determine experience in area of assignment)
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
A. A Master's Degree or higher from an accredited institution of higher education
B. Two (2) or more years working with secondary or higher education settings
C. Two (2) or more years' experience developing retention-based programming in the secondary or higher education settings
D. Two (2) or more years' experience with recruitment in the secondary or higher education settings
E. Two (2) or more years' experience working collaboratively with all levels of the secondary or higher education organization including students, parents, staff, faculty, administrators and / or external partners
F. Two (2) or more years advising students in Early College Programs (e.g., ACE, HOL, Dual Enrollment)
