CVICU Cohort 30
Supports delivery of patient care by providing clerical and receptionist services to patients, families, visitors, staff, physicians, departments that support patient care, and all other customers of a Patient Care Unit with regular guidance. Facilitates efficient workflow, supports appropriate use of technology, and fosters effective communication. Position hours are 24 hours per week rotating based on unit need. No specific workdays or days off can be guaranteed.
We care for adult patients aged 18 and up who are being treated for post-op recovery and intensive care for coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic surgeries, valve surgeries, pulmonary endarterectomies, heart / lung / dual organ transplant, and care of temporary mechanical circulator support, including the majority of our center's ECMO population. Surgical cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular intensive care, including :
- Post-op recovery and intensive care for coronary artery bypass grafting
- Aortic surgeries
- Valve surgeries
- Heart, lung, and dual organ transplant
- Care of temporary mechanical circulator support including the majority of our center's ECMO population
Key responsibilities include :
Processing orders according to guidelines, following computer downtime proceduresEntering and updating information in the computer system to ensure current information and retrieve data accuratelyMaintaining unit log according to guidelines, making follow-up appointments, and performing discharge related clerical tasksResponding to patient call system and patient requests providing clear, current information to families, visitors, and staffUsing telephone, patient call system, beeper / paging system, fax / copy machine, scanning, unit specific monitoring devices, pneumatic tube system and to facilitate flow of communication, equipment and suppliesOrdering, maintaining, and using supplies in a cost-effective mannerTechnical capabilities include :
