Senior Plant Engineer

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE :

Plan, schedule, and direct assigned major capital projects for the facility that include maintenance of business, investment growth, and overall productivity improvement.

Assist Engineering Manager in managing capital budget and fixed assets. Assure compliance with applicable environmental regulations as it pertains to capital investment.

Determine and manage productivity and cost improvement projects.

NATURE & SCOPE OF POSITION :

• Interact very closely with all levels in the corporation including but not limited to Departments within Portland, the Plant Controller, the Purchasing Managers as well as Corporate Engineers, in addition to vendors, contractors and a wide range of governmental agencies.
• Ensure zero accidents and zero occupational illnesses with a consistent risk prevention system. Follow the CertainTeed Health and Safety Rules, ensure safe operating conditions within area of responsibility, and notify coworkers and supervisors of hazardous acts and conditions.
• Proper use of PPE. Promote safety in department. Maintain clean and safe working environment in line with 5-S Philosophy.
• Facilitate and / or participate in safety training and safety committee meetings.

• Use appropriate problem-solving methodologies to assist Production and Maintenance in troubleshooting efforts.

Develop capital budget plans and project schedules for assigned projects.

KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES (SKILLS & ABILITIES) :

Five (5) years of progressively responsible journey level engineer experience; OR Completion of a four-year degree and / or technical training program in engineering and two (2) years engineering experience;

OR, any equivalent combination of experience and / or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
