Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position in Michigan with night shifts, requiring ICU experience and BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in a hospital-based Medical ICU with a mix of ICU and PCU patient populationsNight shifts, 3x12 hours (19 : 00-07 : 00)Patient ratios range from 1 : 1 for high acuity to 4 : 1 for lower acuity; vent patients are 2 : 1Typical diagnoses include COPD, encephalopathy, drug overdose, DKA, AKI, respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, heart failure, and A-fibPerform procedures such as CRRT, HD, A-line placement, CVC placement, trach and chest tube placementSpecialized equipment includes cooling machines, Bair Huggers, CRRT, and massive transfusion suppliesWill float to other ICU and Med Surg units as needed, with approximately 5-6 patients per RN on med-surg unitsEvery other weekend scheduling requiredResponsibilities include advanced cardiac and respiratory care, titration of vasoactive and cardiac drips, procedural sedation, and ventilator supportWill assist with BiPAP, CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula management as well as arterial blood gas interpretation and suctioningTeam consists of both travelers and permanent staff; travelers float first in rotationOrientation includes self-reported online modules totaling 8 hours, completed annuallyFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyNo radius restrictions for local candidates; locals accepted at the same rateReturn staff must have a 6 month separation before being consideredRequirements
Active Michigan RN license or proof of a pending MI license with a firm ETAMinimum 1 year of ICU nursing experience requiredCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIH certifications from AHA requiredProficiency in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, ventilator management, IV therapy, and management of multisystem organ failureExperience with high acuity ICU equipment and proceduresMust be available for the entire orientation weekFlu vaccination proof required or exemption submitted within 48 hours of contract signingReferences required for considerationBenefits
