Aquatics Director

The YMCA of Upper Palmetto is seeking an Aquatics Director for its Baxter Close Branch located in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Baxter Close YMCA is part of a master planned community of roughly 1700 homes with a small downtown area. The Baxter Close YMCA sits at the heart of the Baxter Village community. Close to downtown Fort Mill and the shops and restaurants of Kingsley Town Center nearby.

POSITION SUMMARY

• Develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA aquatic programs.
• Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
• Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
• Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
• Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance. Purchases equipment, parts and supplies approved by the Branch Manager.
• Collaborate with the Branch Manager / Regional Vice President to establish systems for regularly scheduled pool inspections to ensure proper and efficient working order at all times.
• Conducts and or schedules lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings.

Oversee swim classes, water fitness classes, and swim team practices

and meets, which promote retention of existing members and engagement of new members. Direct staff to support aquatic initiatives to achieve retention goals.
