Position Summary :

The Chicago School Division Chair is an administrative faculty member and will have supervisory oversight of the academic operations of the program(s) at their campus and the other locations on which the program(s) run.

The Division Chair works within a matrixed structure and reports directly to the Associate Dean. In addition to reporting to the College Associate Dean, the Division Chair works closely with functional area regional leadership including but not limited to admissions and student support.

This role is based at our Los Angeles or Anaheim campus of The Chicago School. Hybrid work arrangements may be considered.

Occasional travel (10%-20%) may be required and may fluctuate based on time of year.

Principal Duties :

40% - People Management and Supervision

  • Hire, manage, and lead all Academic Chairs, ensuring chairs meet or exceed established quality standards, achieve performance goals, and support institutional and program priorities.
  • Steward an inclusive culture among faculty, staff, and students that promotes inclusive decision making and integrating diverse perspectives.

Establish effective working relationships and collaborate within the division and across the university to facilitate program operations and to promote university-wide policies and best practices within the division.

Lead programs through all significant academic and administrative decisions and milestones across the year.Provide consultation on the hiring of all full-time core faculty and performance management measures and practices for program faculty across locations.

Communicate and support faculty within Business Psychology, ensuring clear lines of communication for all aspects of programs.

20% - Academic Quality & Innovation

Through collaborative decision-making processes, lead the program in developing program curricula that are relevant, rigorous, pedagogically sound, and attractive to prospective students.

Ensure curricula of all programs are updated in accordance with the timeline established in university policy incorporating the latest standards, innovative technology, and occupational trends in the discipline.

Oversee the program review process and evaluate courses and programs regularly to make recommendations for program enhancement;

recommend procedures and policies affecting curricula, including but not limited to approval processes for courses and programs.

  • Review and assess professional standards and department goals.
  • Strengthen processes for PLO / CLO development and alignment across all modalities.
  • Seek out, provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise on current and emerging trends, issues, and methods for the academic discipline(s), and lead the proposal and adoption of innovative technology, delivery models and programming for the department.
  • Ensure programs are meeting learning outcomes desired by employers and professional organizations, such as SIOP.

20% - Academic Operations & Budget Management

  • Develop and ensure a high-quality academic experience for all students in the program across modalities and campuses.
  • Analyze program related issues, provide recommendations, and support a swift resolution of those issues to increase the quality of the program and student experience.
  • Manage the financial health of the department. Administer the centralized program budget. Maintain active oversight of the financial health of the program / s with forecasting future expenses and managing costs in accordance with budget plan.
  • Develop strategic academic and budget plans for department, including recommendations derived from the assessment and program review process, resulting in programs well positioned to support the next generation of learners.
  • Manage core processes (, efficient course scheduling across modalities and campuses) to ensure program operations align with academic budget guidelines and create the best possible outcomes for students.

20% - Strategic Growth

  • Lead and support grassroots community engagement for the program / s, resulting in strategic partnerships to expand brand awareness and increase student enrollment.
  • Oversee the development, review, and implementation of new and innovative programs and delivery models, resulting in new student enrollment and excellence in student outcomes.
  • Lead the development and ongoing management of a national advisory board for the program / s with the aim of identifying employment trends relevant to needed curricular changes to keep the program / s current, relevant and attractive to prospective students.
  • In collaboration with other functional areas develop and execute a strategic growth plan for the program / s.

Position Qualifications :

  • or in a field related to the department from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Three years or more of effective leadership and supervision in a similar role within a college or university setting.
  • Evidence of success in effective collaboration, communication, and relationship building skills to lead diverse teams.
  • Evidence of success with preparing leadership professionals and scholar-practitioners.
  • Ability to demonstrate the relevance of their work, scholarship, and interests to the larger community.
  • Experience with developing curricula in different modalities.
  • Experience with both online and face-to-face teaching, preferably with business psychology topics.

Compensation & Benefits

This opportunity is budgeted at $95,000 - $130,000 base compensation. Additional compensation factors may impact total compensation.
