We are seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our program in Fort Worth, TX.

Position Details :

  • The primary goal of the Autism Teacher is to provide specialized instruction in an individualized program for students to empower them to become happy, confident, and productive members of their community.
  • Design, supervise and implement students’ IEP plans (Individualized Education Program).
  • Create and coordinate student schedules with related services and general education.
  • Collect and analyze student data and monitor student progress.
  • Effectively work with large team of professionals needs to coordinate services.
  • Participate in several staff development training courses that focus on working with students with Autism.
  • Implement state of the art strategies to work effectively with students with Autism.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications :

  • Teachers working at a Merakey School are required to have a minimum of bachelor's degree and a valid Texas Special Education certificate.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience (3-5 preferred) working with students with an autism diagnosis and high intensity behavior needs is required.
  • Must obtain and maintain agency physical management certification credentials through Quality Behavioral Solutions (QBS) / Safety Care.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop classroom strategies that promote an effective teaching and learning environment utilizing principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Ability to maintain composure in high crisis situations and lead the classroom team in appropriate and approved responses.

Ability to follow Behavior Intervention Plans with consistency and fidelity, while also making in the moment informed decisions when needed.

  • Experience applying ABA principles in a clinic or school setting. A minimum of current RBT credential with the Behavior Analysis Certification Board preferred.
