What's This Job Is About?

We're seeking a Managing Investigator to join our Executive Due Diligence team. This critical role has two components: individual contributor and case manager. As an individual contributor, you will conduct sophisticated research on complex or high-profile cases, using advanced investigative skills. As a case manager, you will focus on managing routine cases that involve in-depth research, and providing analysis and data synthesis in client-ready deliverables. You will collaborate closely with other case managers as well as leadership across various practice groups, including Executive Due Diligence, Transaction Due Diligence and Disputes. Through your meticulous attention to detail and oversight of the entire investigative process, you will deliver polished, accurate, actionable intelligence that strengthens the Mintz Group's reputation for excellence and supports our strategic goals.

What are Your Key Responsibilities?

Conduct Complex Investigations:

  • Handle cases with higher complexity and profile, requiring advanced investigative skills and discretion.
  • Conduct in-depth database searches and analyze nuanced legal, corporate, and public records.
  • Compile and synthesize significant amounts of data into insightful and professionally written client reports, often for high-stakes situations

Enhance Expertise and Mentor Junior Team Members:

  • Continue professional development through advanced training programs and by taking on challenging cases.
  • Act as a resource for junior investigators by sharing knowledge and offering guidance.
  • Support team dynamics by contributing to collaborative problem-solving sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Optimize and Innovate Investigative Practices:

  • Develop and refine investigative methodologies to tackle complex cases more efficiently.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and advanced pattern recognition to identify subtle connections and enhance case outcomes.
  • Champion initiatives to integrate new tools or processes that improve research accuracy and reduce turnaround times.

Uphold Quality and Precision in Deliverables:

Ensure every investigation adheres to the highest standards of accuracy, thoroughness, and professionalism.

Conduct rigorous reviews of all deliverables, leaving no detail unchecked, to provide clients with comprehensive, actionable insights.

Maintain a commitment to confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information.

What Makes You a Great Fit:

  • Experience: 4-7 years of relevant work experience in investigations, risk advisory, or due diligence. Experience in client-facing professional services preferred.
  • Research Expertise: Proficient in using investigative databases such as Westlaw and Nexis, with demonstrated ability to analyze legal, corporate, and other public records.
  • Writing Skills: Exceptional ability to draft clear, concise, and comprehensive investigative reports tailored to client needs.
  • Attention to Detail: Proven track record of delivering high-quality, error-free work, adhering to firm guidelines, and conducting exhaustive reviews.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong capacity to distill large amounts of complex information into actionable conclusions while identifying patterns and anomalies.
  • Tech Savvy: Familiarity with investigative tools and platforms, and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Global Perspective: Multilingual capabilities are a plus, contributing to a broader understanding of cross-border investigations and diverse client needs.
  • Educational Background: A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and pivot effectively in response to shifting priorities.
