Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Details

Location : Downers Grove, IL 60515 (Chicago metro area)

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (travel nursing contract)

Start Date : December 22, 2025

End Date : March 21, 2026

Shift : 10-hour day shifts

Hours per Week : 40

Estimated Weekly Salary : $2750 - $2820 per week

Setting : Cardiac Stepdown Unit, Adult Inpatient / Outpatient Interventional Cardiac Services

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Cardiac Stepdown RN or Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Associate's degree in Nursing (ASN) required

Active Illinois RN license (Registered Nurse – Illinois)

BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required

ARRT or RTR certification

Experience with EPIC charting system

Proficient in aseptic technique, sheath pulling, TR band placement / removal, line securement, EKG / cardiac rhythm interpretation, IABP / Impella

RCIS certification (CCI) and EPIC Cupid experience highly preferred

Cardiac Stepdown Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality patient care in the Cardiac Stepdown Unit for adult patients

Assist with interventional cardiac procedures and monitor patient status

Utilize EPIC charting, Alaris IV, Pyxis medication dispensing, Zoll defibrillator, Phillips Fluoro machine, Merge Hemodynamics, and Data scope IABP

Perform sheath pulling, TR band placement / removal, and secure vascular access lines

Interpret EKGs and cardiac rhythms with accuracy

Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Participate in up to 1 week of unit orientation for a smooth transition into the role
