Senior Team Lead

The Senior Team Lead will have day to day operational responsibility for the assigned product family(s) in the areas of safety, quality, delivery & cost. The Senior Team Lead will serve as the primary execution leader for their assigned assembly area and manage team members in their areas of responsibility. A primary objective will be to maximize the ratio of value added vs. nonvalue added time in the value stream as well as eliminating waste in the overall production process. The Senior Team Lead is also responsible for aligning the operations function with customer requirements. The Senior Team Lead will be responsible for two (2) Value Stream Departments.

Your Impact

  • Responsible for the assigned product(s) between the four walls of the plant including mid-term planning for required parts, tools, and human resource coordination
  • Actively manage workflows and set mid-term plans
  • Manage work on the production floor as well as ensure upcoming jobs are ready for a successful production start
  • Ensure Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost objectives are met for assigned value stream
  • Lead daily management processes and ensure 5 why root-cause evaluation and counter measure are applied and documented; these results will serve as the primary means to measure performance
  • Utilize active management skills to balance resource needs in responsible areas and maximize contributions from team members
  • Monitor team member progress on assigned tasks to ensure schedule adherence and escalate as soon as it is determined that a delay will occur
  • Monitor attendance and tardiness of team members including punctuality of breaks and time away from work centers
  • Support the manager with employee relations as required
  • Ensure relentless continuous improvement is being implemented using A3, Kaizen events, and other problem-solving techniques
  • Coordinate, develop, support and complete standard work & standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Adapt and respond to changing situations or circumstances by implementing temporary corrective actions to shield customers from problems
  • Oversee pace board process, standard work, and error proofing for assigned value stream
  • Coordinate and support the recruitment & selection of the work force, performance assessment for area team members, work assignments and recognition / disciplinary actions for employees in the assigned value stream
  • Ensure team is properly trained, resourced and supplied to perform their work functions
  • Provide coaching and advocates for additional resources when requirements are identified
  • Manage schedules and staffing requirements based on determined priorities
  • Review and submit timecards / payroll for the value stream
  • Follow progress of production in department, anticipate or investigate major causes of delays, and ensures that corrective action is taken
  • Coordinate priorities with other leads and managers to guarantee workflow with other areas / departments
  • Compile and report actual team performance results vs. established goals
  • Value Stream process mapping and plan implementation
  • Document current state and plan future state conditions with required actions / changes
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement principals to enhance work processes and outputs
  • Utilize Voice of Customer Feedback to evaluate and enhance processes
  • Monitor department expenses, primarily cost of labor and supplies, to remain within budget guidelines and looks for / implements cost saving solutions
  • Monitor certain supplier invoices and approve per established authority limits
  • Maintain a cost effective, yet flexible production area, which can effectively meet and achieve internal and external customer requirements
  • Collaborate with internal Quality Manager
  • Follow and enforce Safety, Health, Environment, and Hazardous Waste Rules and Responsibilities
  • Understand ISO requirements and help maintain compliance
  • Possess basic knowledge of Syteline (ERP systems), Microsoft office, and Adobe
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or minimum 5 years of relevant previous work experience in a leadership role in an Operations environment
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in a Lean Enterprise
  • Must be a take charge leader capable of grasping the scope of departments' responsibilities and possesses the resourcefulness to leverage resources to understand and identify performance impediments, find solutions, and implement improvements
  • Ability to consider many variables (resources, constraints, sequences, and timing) to formulate a plan for success
  • Ability & knowledge to formulate "What if" contingencies for planning purposes to continue to make progress and achieve goals
  • Ability to work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environment
  • Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates) : Forklift, overhead crane, jib hoist certification
