Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg position requiring a Michigan RN license, night shifts, and strong post-surgical skills.
Responsibilities
Work in the Medical Surgical unit within a hospital settingPrimarily night shifts, 3x12 hours from 19 : 00 to 7 : 30Will float to other Med / Surg units, ICU, and ED holding Med / Surg patients as neededTypical patient ratio is 1 : 6Patient population includes post-surgical and general Med / Surg casesRemote telemetry monitoring is usedWeekend shifts are required every other weekendNo on-call responsibilitiesRNs are responsible for managing post-surgical and medical patients with complex care needsTravelers have priority for floating assignments across compatible unitsFlu vaccination documentation is required; exemption requests must be submitted quickly after contract signingOrientation includes non-billable, self-reported modules to be completed annuallyMust be available for the first 8 days of the assignmentNo holiday requests allowed; holiday RTO discussed based on unit needsLocals accepted at the same rate with no radius restrictionsReferences are required for considerationReturn staff may apply if more than 6 months since last assignmentRequirements
Active Michigan RN license requiredMinimum 1.5 years of recent Med / Surg or PCU experienceCurrent certifications : BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)Strong post-surgical competency requiredSkills in telemetry, colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre / post hemodialysis management, port and PICC access, blood product administration, and surgical drain careExperience with chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, and wound care including wound vacAbility to manage various types of oxygen delivery and airway managementBenefits
