Engineering Scheduler Planner
The Engineering Scheduler Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining effective planning strategies to ensure optimal output of deliverables within the engineering department. Essential duties include evaluating and determining project urgency, complexity, impact, and dependencies. The role involves developing detailed engineering plans, including task assignments, deadlines, and timelines. It also requires optimizing the allocation of shared resources across multiple projects to ensure resources are used efficiently and deadlines are met. The planner uses ERP / MRP / planning systems to track project progress against the plan, identifying potential issues or delays and implementing solutions. Regular reports on project status, progress, and any shortfalls are prepared and issued for stakeholders and management. Collaboration with various teams, including project managers, quality, operations, and engineering, is essential to ensure alignment. Participation in S&OP meetings and contribution to long-term capacity and resource planning are also part of the role. Data analysis to provide insights into resource capacity, adherence to timelines, and resource utilization is required.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include excellent knowledge of production planning, experience with ERP systems (Epicor preferred), strong organizational and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to balance short-term production needs with long-term strategic goals. Understanding of switchgear, relay panels, or other like electrical distribution systems is also necessary.
Required / preferred education and experience include a bachelor's degree in construction management, manufacturing, supply chain management, project management, industrial engineering, or other related fields. Five or more years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or operations within a manufacturing environment is required. Experience using ERP / MRP software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other planning tools are also necessary.
Work environment and physical requirements include operating in a professional office environment adjoining an active manufacturing facility. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
