Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Job Summary (List Format) :

• Start Date : December 15th or 29th preferred
• Availability : Must be available for the first 8 days of assignment
• Holiday Policy : No holiday time off requests; holiday work as needed, subject to manager approval
• Call Requirement : None
• Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend
• Float Requirement : May float to other Medical-Surgical (MS), ICU, and ED Waiting areas to care for MS patients
• Experience : Minimum 1.5 years of MedSurg or PCU experience required
• Patient Ratios : Must be comfortable with 1 : 6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• License / Certification : Michigan RN License, BLS (AHA), and NIHSS required
• Clinical Competencies : Strong post-surgical nursing skills required

• Telemetry (remote monitoring)
• Colostomy care
• Feeding tube care / management
• Pre / Post Hemodialysis management
• Accessing ports
• Blood product administration
• Peripheral line care / management
• PICC line management
• Starting IVs
• Heparin and insulin administration
• PCA management
• Surgical drains and chest tubes (Emerson / Pleur-evac)
• High flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Oral suctioning, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tank management
• Tracheostomy management
• Isolation precautions
• Wound care and wound vac management
