Scheduling Coordinator
The Scheduling Coordinator handles inpatient and outpatient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and co-pay collection.
Responsibilities include :
- Demonstrating accurate scheduling of all inpatient and outpatient appointments / procedures.
- Completing the pre-registration process by collecting accurate patient demographic, insurance, and co-pay information.
- Performing insurance verification using various systems and calling commercial insurance companies to identify co-payments and initiate referrals to the hospital financial counselor.
- Interfacing with referring offices for accurate scheduling of procedures and / or pre-testing appointments via telephone and fax.
- Coordinating patient information mailings.
- Arranging for interpreters for all hearing impaired patients.
- Organizing and prioritizing tasks and communications in a highly efficient manner.
- Demonstrating proficiency in downtime procedures.
- Answering telephone promptly, identifying self, and using proper telephone etiquette.
- Demonstrating respect for patient's rights by maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information and following HIPAA guidelines.
- Collecting and documenting information requested by HIPAA requirements.
- Demonstrating professional communication with all customers including the ability to appropriately handle complaints or concerns expressed by offices.
Additional essential functions for surgical services include :
Communicating changes to the surgical schedule in a timely manner to the scheduling supervisor or Nurse Manager.Assessing future schedules one to three weeks out for dropped blocks, room gaps, and reporting such to scheduling supervisor or Nurse Manager.Accepting need to float and / or provide assistance to other registration staff.Required qualifications include :

Sedentary work - exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionallyPay range : $19.00 - $25.00 hourly.
