Schedule Details / Additional Information :

  • Nights
  • 8 and 12 hr shifts
  • Every third weekend rotation
  • Holiday rotation
  • Sign-On Bonus : $15,000 for 3rd Shift

    Student Loan Forgiveness : Up to $20,000

    Unit Overview :

    Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit , where you will care for a diverse patient population, including :

  • Post-operative craniotomies for bleed evacuation, AVMs, and tumor resections.
  • Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.
  • Hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke patients as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program .
  • High volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, along with medical overflow cases .
  • As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , our unit is at the forefront of neurosurgical techniques and care.

  • Deliver and coordinate comprehensive, evidence-based patient care using the nursing process.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, therapeutic, and compassionate care.
  • Apply clinical judgment, skilled communication, and critical thinking to support optimal outcomes.

  • Major Responsibilities :

  • Utilize the nursing process to assess patient needs, plan, implement, and evaluate care in collaboration with patients and families.
  • Recognize significant changes in patient conditions, providing ongoing assessments and necessary interventions.
  • Implement strategies that reduce patient risk and enhance safety, fostering a culture of learning.
  • Coordinate the discharge plan employing an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Evaluate patient, team, and unit outcomes and participate in shared governance initiatives.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and conflict resolution skills, promoting collaboration.
  • Participate in quality / process improvement initiatives for enhanced patient care.
  • Engage in professional development activities and mentorship opportunities.
  • Provide age-appropriate care tailored to individual patient needs, adhering to departmental standards.
  • Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Education Required :

  • Completion of an accredited or approved Nursing program.
  • Experience Required :

  • Typically requires 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

  • Demonstrate holistic patient care and a patient-family focus.
  • Recognize situational changes requiring interventions confidently and timely.
  • Proficient with electronic medical records and communication systems.

  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach, and twist frequently during work.
  • Can lift and carry specified weights and perform patient transfers.
  • Willingness to wear protective clothing and equipment in potentially hazardous environments.
  • Must possess functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with good fine motor skills.
  • Will operate all necessary equipment for performing job duties.
