Job Summary

The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in the candidate¿s area of expertise.

Based on the recent Proclamation : Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers (H-1B) , VSU will not be sponsoring any new H-1B visa petitions until further notice.

Responsibilities

Department Summary

Valdosta State University invites applicants to apply for an adjunct (part-time) position in the Department of History. Hiring occurs on an as needed, limited-term basis. Successful candidates may teach on-campus or electronically and have the ability to work with students and staff.

Screening of candidates begins immediately.

Adjunct (part-time) faculty must perform duties associated with teaching at the post-secondary level. These include (but are not limited to) : preparing lectures and their class instructional materials; preparing and leading class discussion; providing prompt responses to student questions and inquiries as well as prompt and appropriate feedback on tests, quizzes, and assignments; and following VSU policies and procedures related to teaching.

Required Qualifications

• Must have earned a graduate degree from a regionally accredited university with at least 18 graduate credit hours in a related field.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

Conditions of Employment

Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest / Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
