We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated Security Engineer to join our IT team based in Spokane, WA. This is both an operationally and project focused technical role.

Your Day-to-Day :

• The position will require on-call, after hours support periodically.
• Work in concert with senior IT peers to implement, manage, and maintain security applications and infrastructure in the URM customer WAN and enterprise network.
• Configure, manage, and monitor network and security infrastructure in accordance with industry best practices.
• Participate in the evaluation, deployment, integration, and configuration of new networking and security solutions in the URM architecture.
• Implement firewall rulesets and policy configuration in accordance with internal standards and industry best practices.
• Monitor, review, and tune SIEM activity to identify security events and incidents.
• Assist in the evaluation, implementation, and management of URM's current and future security applications.
• Assist in the investigation of security events and incidents in collaboration with the URM security team.
• Utilize both open-source and commercial toolsets to conduct internal penetration testing and scanning.

Education / License :

• Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or Cyber Security preferred.
• Demonstrable intermediate level (five years or more) of technical network and security experience
• Certifications with Fortinet NSE preferred : FCP or FCS
• Cloud certification for network and security preferred : Azure Security Engineer
• CISSP, CISA, CISM, or Security+ or other security certification preferred.

Ideal Candidate Profile :

• Prior experience in security-focused technical role
• Experience with security compliance processes.
• Experience in vulnerability and patch management
• Experience with modern EDR / XDR tools and concepts
• Experience with secure email gateway tools and concepts
• Experience with Active Directory security practices
• Intermediate to advanced level technical experience in IP networking, firewall and security concepts.
• Experience working with, Fortinet, Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, and Watchguard security products is preferred.
• Experience utilizing GNU / Linux and open-source tools in a security context.
• Candidate must have effective troubleshooting, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written communications free from grammatical errors
