Administrative Faculty, Non-Tenure Track, Benefits Eligible
The Institutional Research & Effectiveness Manager is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and coordination in the management, research and analysis, and dissemination of institutional data and information in support of Western Nevada College. Key areas include mission fulfillment, strategic planning, decision-making, program assessment, and student success. The role of the Manager is to foster a robust and vibrant culture of evidence across Western Nevada College.
Job Duties
- Collaborate on, recommend, and provide data, information, research, and complex analyses as needed for program reviews and assessment, institutional effectiveness and mission fulfillment assessment, state performance review, accreditation, and ad hoc requests
- Oversee surveys and gather information not available in internal or external databases
- Develop, proof, and document programming code for reporting and analyses
- Coordinate WNC's response to applicable Public Records Requests
- Ensure that accurate and complete data and information are submitted on time to system office, state, federal, accrediting, and other agencies. This includes reviewing external requirements, monitoring internal data and business processes, and documentation
- Ensure that accurate and complete data and information are timely submitted to internal customers. This includes reviewing requests and working with the requester to understand the need, validating data, providing analysis, and researching any potential data discrepancies
- Facilitate college goal processes including providing templates and guidance, tracking progress and completion
- Supervise temporary IRE staff members including approving hours and timesheets; managing assignments, workload, behavior and performance; managing personnel budget; and ensuring training completion
- Serve on institutional committees and collaborate with business process personnel in Admission & Records, Financial Assistance, Scheduling, Student Services, and other data customers across the institution to identify potential processes that impact reporting needs and that could be streamlined for reporting purposes
- Coordinate communication avenues to identify best practices and link institutional priorities to data and information
- Manage, build upon, and monitor WNC's internal SQL data warehouse to ensure institutional reporting needs are anticipated and met
- Develop and modify reports and dashboards
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and four years of related professional experience; ORAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree (i.e. AA+5 yrs of professional experience). A minimum of an Associate's degree is requiredKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Mastery of data acquisition, data articulation processes and systems, SQL software and programmingQualitative and quantitative research and analysis skillsComprehensive knowledge of higher education business processes and management issues in the areas of students, faculty, finances, and facilities as well as the personnel who supervise and use those business processesContextual knowledge and understanding of the history and culture of higher education, community colleges, institutional research, and assessment in general and WNC and NSHE in particularComprehensive knowledge of Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities regional accreditation processes and requirements; strategic planning and business intelligence in higher education; and assessment of student learning outcomes, program outcomes, and institutional effectiveness.Thorough knowledge of institutional, state and federal policies and procedures governing data and data management such as the federal Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to translate IRE language into layperson termsPerks of Working at WNC
