Occupational Therapist Per Diem Day Shift

Job Summary :

The Occupational Therapist evaluates patients, plan and implement specific treatment programs for individual patients according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy. The Occupational Therapist demonstrates proficient clinical knowledge and skills in delivering care to assigned age specific patient populations within an interdisciplinary team environment. Actively and consistently contributes to department operations and communications, behaves in a manner consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Pipeline Health, upholding standards of AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank you) patient communication.

Essential Functions :

• Demonstrates an appropriate level of clinical skills, as evidence by completion of comprehensive and insightful evaluations and the development of individualized and effective treatment plans, designed to achieve precise funtional goals.
• Provides patient care at the highest level in variable hospital settings- Outpatient, Inpatient, Sub acute in all Pipeline Health Hospitals.
• Communicate / collaborate with other disciplines, patients, and their family. The Occupational Therapist is also responsible in Occupational Therapy Assistants and Occupational Therapy student or Occupational Therapy Assistant student if applicable.
• Uses excellent communication skills to educate patients and engage them in their own care.
• Makes appropriate discharge recommendations to the interdisciplinary team and coordinates the follow-up with vendors or other ancillary support personnel on any outstanding orders to ensure patient safety.
• Conferences with Providers and other allied health professionals to make recommendations for occupational therapy treatment programs.
• Attends and participates in department and multi-disciplinary meetings on regularly scheduled days and checks meeting minutes if unable to attend.
• Able to safely and appropriately delegate and follow-up patient cases to aide, students, and Restorative Nursing Assistant / RNA.
• Prepares, maintains, and transmits accurate patient documentation including, EMR, charges, and productivity logs.
• Uses clear, concise, professional communication with coworkers, patients, all customers internal and external.
• Uses AIDET in interactions with patients and family members.
• Acts with a sense of urgency when performing tasks.
• Basic unit / department maintenance such as keeping files, drawers, cabinets free from unnecessary clutter.
• Reports on any equipment and or environmental issues for repair.
• Abides by HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations.
• Speaks up to stop the line and escalates potential safety events if necessary.
• Completes and attends monthly training assigned.
• Other duties as assigned.
