Shin in Hollywood, CA is looking for a server to join our restaurant team. We are a family owned Japanese restaurant in the heart of Hollywood, located at 1655 N La Brea Ave, on the corner of Hollywood and La Brea.

We used to be quite small, but have recently expanded and now have 20+ tables. We provide upscale, casual dining, striving to provide exceptional customer attention while also providing fast-paced service.

There are morning (10a-5p) and evening (M-Th 5p-12a or F-Sa 5p-2a or Su 5p-11p) shifts and we have a consistent regular crowd of locals as well as some business from Hollywood Blvd that keeps our restaurant full and busy.

Our ideal candidate is self-driven, hard-working, and a friendly, helpful, and efficient server, with experience in fast-paced, upscale dining.

We have a share / tip pool system that we think keeps everyone striving to give customers the best possible experience, and motivates everyone to help each other.

We have an open kitchen (with bar seating served by the chefs) and a dedicated sushi chef for each shift. As such, we there is a split of the tips that goes to the kitchen.

Tips are paid out daily, paychecks are twice a month, and after 3 months you are eligible to get benefits (health, dental, Aflac, and retirement) if you want them.

Responsibilities

• Presenting the menu and helping customers select food and beverages
• Having a knowledge of the sake, beer and wine offerings.
• Making simple soju cocktails, pouring wine and beer
• Making simple coffee and espresso drinks for customers
• Delivering food to tables
• Delivering a great customer experience
• Taking payments and completing cash out / tip out at the end of shift
• Entering take out and phone orders and helping to pack and send them out
• Side work duties to keep server station and equipment clean and sanitary

Qualifications

• Ability to listen and communicate effectively
• Able to multitask efficiently
• Strong organizational skills
• Experience as a Server for at least 1 year
