Instrumentation R&D Intern (Summer 2026)

Job Description

JOB OBJECTIVE : Support the development and optimization of automated methods, assist senior scientific resources with research projects, aid in development of new chemistries, preform automation experimentation, analyze and report data, troubleshoot automation instrumentation and chemistries.

CORE DUTIES :

1. Assist Instrumentation Scientists in the development of new chemistries, new automated processes, and engineering designs, with an emphasis on applications relevant to molecular biology and biochemical research.

2. Act as a technical resource for the verification and validation of existing automated processes and chemistries.

3. Contribute to work on automated instrumentation to develop new processes that support nucleic acid, protein, or other biochemical workflows.

4. Understands and complies with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Currently pursuing bachelor's degree in biological, chemical, or engineering sciences with an interest in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related life sciences.

2. Laboratory coursework in biological, chemical or engineering sciences; prior exposure to molecular biology or biochemistry techniques is strongly preferred.

3. Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to effectively work on many priorities at one time, which change frequently.

4. Ability to interact productively with team members, take direction, and follow written directions.

5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Advanced coursework in biological, chemical or engineering sciences, especially in molecular biology, biochemistry, or bioengineering.

2. Experience working in an industry or academic laboratory environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

1. Ability to work around automated equipment.

2. Ability to work in an office environment utilizing a computer workstation.

3. Ability to work in a lab environment with chemical and biological materials.
