Chronic ventilator experience is required. Shift hours are three 12-hour shifts, from 6 : 45 PM to 7 : 15 AM. Weekends may be every other weekend or six weekend shifts in a six-week scheduling block. All requests for time off must be submitted with the application. No time off will be permitted during Christmas. Facility may call off one shift per two weeks. First-time travelers are accepted for this role. Local candidates are allowed within specified radius guidelines. Pending licenses are accepted only if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state. Candidates must have a minimum of one year of charge experience. Patient ratio experience should be 5 patients per nurse. Experience with cardiac monitoring and interpretation and management of dysrhythmias is essential. Candidates must be skilled in the administration of various cardiac drips. IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and line care are required skills. Ventilator care for chronic vented patients is expected. Knowledge of respiratory support, including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management, is essential. Participation in rapid response and code teams is required. Understanding isolation precautions is a must. The patient population includes adult and geriatric patients with pulmonary and other medicine-related conditions. The unit can accommodate up to two ventilated patients. Remote telemetry will be utilized. Nurses may be required to float within their skillset to other units as needed. Nurse-patient ratio is typically 1 : 5 during night shifts. Daily census averages around 20 patients. Interdisciplinary support includes therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, and pharmacy. This unit specializes in the management of patients with pulmonary illnesses and other medical conditions. Two beds on the unit are equipped for ventilated patients. Various IV drips and respiratory modalities will be used as part of patient care. The goal is to maintain optimal patient outcomes in a collaborative environment.
