About The Position

Job Title : Surgical Technologist

Experience : 1 year plus Surgical Technologist experience in a hospital setting; 1 year cardiothoracic experience, needs open heart experience

License : CST or TSC - must be certified

Certifications : BLS from AHA only

Must-Have Skills / Experience :

1 year plus Surgical Technologist experience in a hospital setting

Open Heart & Thoracic procedures

Description :

Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the surgeon and the circulating Registered Nurse.

Efficiently set-up surgical cases in multiple specialty disciplines.

Provide equipment and supplies based on patient needs and surgeon preference.

Demonstrate technical skills related to creating and maintaining a sterile field.

Perform instrument, sponge, and sharp counts.

Assist other operating room staff per patient safety and direct patient care policies.

Function as a resource person for newly hired Surgical Technicians and students.

Perform related duties as assigned.

Significant amount of Cardiothoracic Surgical Technologist experience in a hospital setting is required.

May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, and days of the week according to patient requirements.

Surgeries may include ECMO, CABG, Valve Replacement, VATS, Robotics, Lung Resection, Aortic Aneurysm Repair.

Stand and walk most of the time on duty.

Lift and push patients on stretchers.

Lift and push equipment and instrument sets.

Must have a good working knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.

Work with contaminated instruments and equipment while adhering to Universal Precautions.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional high-stress situations.

Will be required to work on-call shifts.
