Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified Senior Software Engineer to provide advanced software engineering expertise in the design, development, and maintenance of mission-critical systems supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs. The Senior Software Engineer will apply industry best practices, modern development methodologies, and DoD standards to ensure reliable system functionality and long-term mission readiness.

Responsibilities

Skills / Experience Required

• Active TS / SCI Clearance
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering or related roles, with proven support of DoD or federal programs
• Experience in one or more programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or C#
• Experience with agile development, DevSecOps, CI / CD pipelines, and version control (Git)
• Knowledge of DoD software development lifecycle (SDLC), cybersecurity standards, and mission-critical systems
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or DoD Cloud) and containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Strong understanding of system integration, APIs, and middleware
• Familiarity with DoD functional mission areas of sustainment, maintenance, and life cycle support; prior experience on related projects is preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills, with ability to design innovative solutions under tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting technical solutions to senior leadership
• Lead the design, development, testing, and integration of software applications for DoD systems
• Translate mission and operational requirements into scalable software architectures and solutions
• Develop secure, efficient, and maintainable code in compliance with DoD cybersecurity and software assurance standards
• Collaborate with system engineers, program managers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with program objectives
• Conduct code reviews, performance testing, and troubleshooting to ensure software quality and reliability
• Guide junior engineers through mentoring and knowledge sharing
• Support DevSecOps pipelines and continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI / CD) processes for rapid deployment
• Prepare documentation, technical reports, and briefings for leadership and stakeholders

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and that may include lifting to thirty pounds, as necessary.
