Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse, you will be instrumental in performing comprehensive patient assessments, developing care plans, and evaluating patient care outcomes. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective care to our pediatric patients.
Your responsibilities will include :
Conducting and documenting thorough patient assessments upon admission.Formulating and updating plans of care based on patient responses to treatment.Documenting nursing interventions and patient outcomes systematically.Ensuring accurate transcribing and implementation of physician orders.Providing educational resources to patients and families regarding care and treatment options.Communicating significant patient and family information to physicians and supervisors.Administering medications and conducting treatments following hospital policies.Delegating tasks appropriately among non-licensed staff according to best practice standards.Qualifications : Experience :
Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience.Experience in an acute care setting is preferred.Education :
Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.If hired with ADN, BSN must be obtained within 5 years.License and Certifications :
Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN license (Texas license needs to be obtained within 90 days of hire).Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification is preferred.Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN) certification is preferred.St. David's North Austin Medical Center is a comprehensive facility with more than 460 beds and specialized care services, including maternity, newborn care, and pediatric specialties, offering a supportive environment for nurses and a focus on patient care excellence.
