THE POSITION

• Continuous until filled

Job Summary :

Under general supervision, conducts and supervises basic / specialized physical fitness aerobic classes and programs for various age groups, develops lesson formats and choreography; works various schedules; and performs related duties as required.

Work Schedule :

Varies from Monday-Friday 6 : 00 am-9 : 00 pm, Saturday 6 : 00 am-1 : 00 pm

QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way to obtain the requisite qualifications to perform the duties of this class is as follows :

Education and / or Experience :

Completion of thirty (30) semester units with a major in physical education, kinesiology, exercise science or a related field and one (1) year of full-time, paid group exercise instruction experience. Health club experience strongly preferred. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis up to one (1) year.

License and Certificates :

Possession of valid American Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR certificate is required. Must possess a valid certification from a nationally recognized organization such as American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), American Council on Exercise (ACE), and any other nationally recognized certification in basic group exercise, aerobics / body sculpting, step or muscle conditioning class. Online certificates are not acceptable.
