Responsibilities for Estimator
- Analyze labor, material, and time requirements for a project
- Estimate costs by looking at the entire project
- Present cost estimates to upper management
- Prepare reports detailing all of the costs going into a project
- Notice differences between estimated cost and actual cost
- Look at customer requirements for a project
- Work with the sales team to prepare proposals
- Coordinate scope coverage with multiple trade contractors to ensure complete coverage on projects
- Experience with conceptual and schematic design budgeting with limited information
- Ability to identify trades / scopes required for a project with or without a complete spec manual
- Prepare high level quality takeoffs and apply unit pricing
- Extensive understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook : Knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff or Bluebeam preferred
- Compare scopes and utilize leveling charts or scope comparison sheets to identify lowest complete bids
- Attend owner scheduled site visits with subcontractors
- Conduct constructability and cost control review with in-house design team
